ABOUT SEÍŌ CENTRE

The Seíō Centre provides immersive experiences that channel the combined power of art and somatic processes to stir inner transformation.

σείω (seíō), si’-o *verb (Ancient Greek) to rock, to shake, to set in motion, to cause a physical or inner displacement. In a contemporary sense: to stir inner awareness through movement, tension, and intensity.

Art throughout the ages has been seen as contributing to human betterment, from the imaginings of the cave paintings to the political expulsions of Banksy, art can be an effective channel for positive change.

The Centre harnesses this power by providing opportunities to encounter cultural experiences in a supportive framework, built for individuals to uncover their inner spark. Through engaging with our creative faculty, often deeply immersed in traditional forms and methods, individuals may set out on transformative pathways in which they have access to creative ideas of how to transfigure today. In building a community of like minded people, both practitioners and participants, Seíō is dedicated to supporting innovation and integration of how creative disciplines may transform our lives.

The Centre's program is built by supporting creative research and artistic production, and contributes to holistic well being by developing frameworks informed by art historical and social context to fully access these creative practices. This is focused in our members' events, which give opportunity to engage with our distinguished faculty and member community personally in a visually stimulating environment. We also aim to develop an active social space to encounter like minded individuals and participate in workshops and excursions in a conversational environment. This furthers the purpose of our mandate, realising socratic spaces of discussion, synthesis and contemplation.
